In stark contrast, a mere 6% are willing to put their complete trust in AI-only platforms. Think about that. For every one person ready to hand their life savings to an algorithm, there are more than twelve who would rather speak to a human being.
40% of respondents said they would only entrust their investments to a human adviser.
25% cited a lack of human oversight as their primary concern with AI.
19% pointed to data security and privacy risks.
These figures aren’t just a nostalgic preference for the old way of doing things. They reflect a deep-seated and entirely rational need for trust, empathy, and accountability when it comes to life-altering decisions. The Hybrid Model: The Sensible Path Forward

This isn’t to say AI has no role to play. The survey also revealed a more nuanced middle ground. While 40% are human-only purists, 34% of people are open to a hybrid model, where a human adviser is enabled and supported by AI tools. This, right here, is the strategic sweet spot.
This hybrid approach leverages the best of both worlds. AI can handle the heavy lifting: crunching vast datasets, running simulations, generating reports, and even flagging potential opportunities or risks that a human might miss. It can reduce costs (24% of consumers saw this as a key benefit) and provide instant data access.
This frees up the human adviser to do what they do best: understand a client’s life goals, their fears, their family situation, and their unique risk tolerance. The AI can provide the “what,” but the human provides the “why” and the “how.” As Grimsditch aptly states, “The future isn’t AI instead of advisers, but advisers enabled by AI.” This isn’t a battle of human versus machine; it’s a partnership.
